Our Finest Hour!
Dear Friends:
On June 18, 1940, Prime Minister Winston Churchill addressed the House of Commons as WW2 was in full force. He ended his speech with this paragraph:
“But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new dark age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves, that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’”
While we are not in a global war that provided the context to Churchill’s speech, we know that our world is far from peaceful. We live in tumultuous times! In 2020, people on every continent encountered COVID-19; the virus that seemingly threatened our very existence. In the USA, the voices on either side of any debate lack civility and are so devoid of patience for anyone expressing another view that often violence results. In other parts of the world human rights are violated without it making headline news. Christians are being persecuted for their faith across the globe. There are wars and rumors of wars. It seems that the world is in chaos!
But, what if we, as followers of Christ, responded to these attacks by our spiritual enemy in such a manner that Church history would record “This was their finest hour”?
In the middle of strife, I am reminded that it is the peace of God that passes understanding. As believers, we have the answer for any, and all, situations for we turn to the one who looked at the raging storm and said, “Peace, be still!”
Despite the chaos and the deafening noise, we must remain focused on Jesus and stay on message; “Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so.” Jesus is our Master. God’s Word is the truth that guides us. The love of Christ compels us to be obedient to Him and to love our neighbors. As we show the love of Christ to our others, we must follow the strategy of Micah 6:8: “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (NASB). Challenging words, indeed!
It is with your partnership that we, at Network211, can present the Truth of God’s Word to people around the world who search the Internet for help, hope, and reason. We offer words of encouragement and life. We journey with them by helping them to obey all that Christ commanded. We direct them to local churches where they can thrive in a community of faith.
People write to us who have no hope and we share the love of Christ. For example, a woman from the Dominican Republic wrote, “I never felt so bad, … I am in a degree of depression that I cannot bear my life. I feel so dirty. I am disappointed with myself, I don’t know how I let myself get to such a degree that I do not have control of myself. What hurts me most is that my 10-year-old son sees how much I am hurting. Pray for me.”
We do pray for those who write to us for we know that the Lord answers prayer. Here are some comments from those whose lives were changed by the Lord:
- A lady from France wrote, “Thank you for the prayer you made for my son. It’s been 1 year since I had any news. As luck would have it, this morning it was 3 am when I sent you a message to pray for him. Today he called me to tell me he is fine.”
- A young man from the Philippines wrote, “Thank you for your advice and help. I am beginning to understand that God created me and has a plan for my life.”
- A woman from Canada wrote, “I have been so lonely and suffering with depression. Thank you for helping me find a church!”
When we launched Project 10Million on October 15, 2008 we asked God to allow it to be completed in ten years. The Lord did it in five years! Then, we launch Project 100Million. In the past three years, from June 2017 to June 2020, together we presented the Gospel to 12.6 million individuals around the world. We thank the Lord for allowing us to increasingly present the Good News and see an even greater harvest!
Network211 was built “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). We will use the Internet as a tool of the Gospel to reach those in desperate need for the Savior. We will not remain silent while the chaos of sin rages around the world. We will pray. We will invest. We will bring the message of hope and love and truth.
With God’s help, and your continued partnership, this will be our finest hour!
Blessings,
Mark
